In Nepal, a national day of mourning was observed on Wednesday, resulting in the closure of all government offices and educational institutions. This commemoration honours the individuals who lost their lives during the Gen Z protests held on September 8 and 9, as announced by the Home Ministry.

Nepali embassies and missions worldwide closed operations, with flags at half-mast. The protests resulted in 72 casualties, including 3 policemen, prompting the declaration of the deceased as 'martyrs' by Prime Minister Sushila Karki. The protests led to the resignation of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli.

The situation has since stabilized, with Kathmandu returning to normalcy. Despite the recent unrest, life continues with preparations for upcoming festivals like Vijaya Dashami and Deepawali. Authorities are now focused on assessing damages and restoring order.
