In a significant development ahead of Maharashtra's local polls, the state has added 14.71 lakh voters to its electoral rolls since the November 2024 assembly elections. Despite suspicions of voter list manipulation, no political party has lodged an official complaint, according to a senior official.
District-wise analysis shows that Thane leads with an addition of 2.25 lakh new voters, followed by Pune with 1.82 lakh. Consequently, the total number of voters in Thane has risen to 74.55 lakh, while Pune's electorate has reached 90.32 lakh.
The total electorate statewide now stands at 9.84 crore. This updated list will replace the one used during last year's assembly polls for the upcoming civic elections, despite recent political accusations from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding alleged BJP-favored voter roll manipulations.
