The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat has begun the formal process to elect its state president and national council members. The party issued a notification detailing the election schedule, with a deadline for nominations set for Friday at 2 pm at the state headquarters in Gandhinagar.
The scrutiny of nomination forms will occur between 3 pm and 4 pm, and candidates have the option to withdraw their nominations from 5 pm to 5:30 pm. If the election is contested by more than one candidate, voting will take place on October 4 between 10 am and 11 am, and the results will be announced in the afternoon.
Incumbent state BJP president and Union Jal Shakti Minister, C R Paatil, whose term ended in July 2023, might reappear in the election. If only one candidate stands, they will be declared elected unopposed on Friday, as per the notification.
