On Wednesday, a delegation of five Trinamool Congress (TMC) members departed for Tripura to express solidarity with party activists. The trip was spurred by the alleged vandalism of a TMC office in Agartala, purportedly by workers from the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) youth wing.
This incident occurred amid heightened tensions, as just a day prior, BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Sankar Ghosh were reportedly attacked in a flood-affected area of northern West Bengal. As the TMC delegation prepared to leave, West Bengal general secretary Kunal Ghosh emphasized the need to resist such acts peacefully.
Sayani Ghosh, a TMC MP, remarked that this was not the first time their delegation faced difficulties in Tripura, recalling past threats under former Chief Minister Biplab Deb's tenure. Despite the risks, the delegation, including TMC's Rajya Sabha MP Susmita Dev, remained steadfast in their mission.
