In a significant development, a court in Barasat has remanded three suspects in the Chandranath Rath murder case to 13 days of police custody. Rath, an aide to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, was fatally shot on May 6 near Madhyamgram.

The accused, identified as Mayank Raj Mishra, Vicky Maurya, and Raj Singh, were arrested in separate operations across Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. According to police reports, their arrest was determined by investigatory insights into the crime.

The prosecution, represented by Advocate Bivas Chatterjee, successfully advocated for the inclusion of additional charges, specifically concerning evidence tampering. The formidable case has led to demands from political entities for a CBI probe, emphasizing the need for impartiality in the investigation.
