Rebel AIADMK leader C Ve Shanmugam has asserted that an ideological alignment between AIADMK and TVK, driven by their opposition to the DMK, led to significant backing from opposition party MLAs in a recent floor test.
Rejecting claims from AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami that ministerial positions were promised for this support, Shanmugam credited the shared anti-DMK stance as the catalyst for cross-voting by 25 AIADMK MLAs.
With internal disputes continuing, Shanmugam emphasizes the party's traditional mission to counter DMK dominance, while calling for an AIADMK general council meet to determine the party's future trajectory.
