Punjab Pledges Zero Tolerance for Fake Votes in SIR Process

In a steadfast commitment to fair electoral practices, Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann vowed to prevent any manipulation of the voting process during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Mann assured that the AAP would maintain a watchful presence at polling booths to eliminate fraudulent vote entries.

The initiative responds to ongoing concerns from multiple states about the deletion of genuine votes and the introduction of fake ones. Mann emphasized that the integrity of Punjab's polling process would be protected by ensuring only eligible citizens remain on the voter lists, with the Election Commission of India urged to address all related issues promptly.

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra detailed the SIR's logistics, underscoring the comprehensive deployment of resources, including 24,453 Booth Level Officers, to conduct door-to-door verifications. This vigilance aims to safeguard voters' rights and reinforce trust in the electoral process.
