Security Reduction Sparks Debate in Beed

The Beed district administration in Maharashtra has decided to withdraw police protection from five local political figures, citing a decreased perception of threat, officials announced on Sunday. This move comes after recommendations by a court-sanctioned review committee.

The individuals affected by this decision include former minister Jaidatt Kshirsagar, ex-legislators Bhimrao Dhonde and Amarsinh Pandit, NCP district president Rajeshwar Chavan, and State Food Commission Chairman Subhash Raut. According to Superintendent of Police Navneet Kanwat, none of these leaders currently face any credible threats to their safety.

Officials also noted that there are no plans to recover security-related costs from those who formerly received protection. The withdrawal is expected to allow police resources to be redirected towards maintaining law and order within the district.
