The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) organized a protest outside Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's residence, urging him to resign due to the NEET exam paper leak controversy.
NSUI, the student division of the Congress party, conducted a torchlight march starting from ATM Square in Niladri Vihar, aiming to reach Pradhan's residence. However, they were halted by police, leading to a confrontation and the detention of numerous NSUI members.
Aditya Pritam Das, an NSUI leader, argued that the education minister's role in recent student suicides, allegedly connected to the leak, tarnished Odisha's reputation. He demanded Pradhan's resignation, warning of future protests during his visits to Odisha.
The situation unfolded as the National Testing Agency announced the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026, rescheduling the exam for June 21, 2026, amid a CBI investigation into the leak.
