In a recent statement, West Bengal BJP leader Agnimitra Paul condemned the attack on Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, asserting that the BJP does not support such actions. She noted that the incident reflects public outrage, a sentiment often cited by Trinamool to explain past attacks on BJP figures.
Paul drew attention to similar past assaults on BJP leaders, including JP Nadda, to underline alleged hypocrisy in reactions. She accused the ruling party of using oppressive tactics during its tenure, leading to growing resentment among the populace. During a visit to Sonarpur, Abhishek Banerjee faced an aggressive crowd hurling stones and eggs; he was rescued by police intervention.
