The Chairperson of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), Rajesh Verma, spearheaded a significant meeting aimed at enforcing environmental directives in Haryana. The gathering focused on initiatives to mitigate air pollution, particularly across the National Capital Region (NCR).
Haryana Chief Secretary, Anurag Rastogi, revealed a comprehensive strategy aimed at tackling air pollution, with a special focus on preventing paddy stubble burning by 2025. The state has rolled out financial incentives and regulatory measures to foster sustainable agricultural practices, aiming to manage the 85.50 lakh metric tonnes of straw projected from paddy fields.
Further efforts include the mandatory use of paddy straw-based biomass pellets in brick kilns and enhancing road infrastructure in cities like Gurugram, Faridabad, and Sonipat to fight dust pollution. Haryana is also phasing out end-of-life vehicles and encouraging cleaner transport solutions within public and private sectors.
