Heavy rainstorms have struck Beijing, resulting in the deaths of 30 individuals and causing over 80,000 to be relocated, according to municipal flood control officials on Tuesday.
Most fatalities occurred in the northern mountain districts, with 28 reported in Miyun and two in Yanqing. Local authorities confirmed that Miyun also witnessed the heaviest rainfall, peaking at 543.4 mm.
Infrastructure suffered significant damage, with 31 road sections affected and power disruptions in 136 villages. Authorities have issued strong warnings for the public to avoid fast-moving rivers as they brace for further extreme weather conditions predicted for the region.
