Bravery Awarded as Father-Daughter Duo Rescues Tiger
The Forest Department in Jharkhand recognized a father and his daughter for their courageous actions in rescuing a tiger that entered their home. The duo tactfully managed the situation, leading to the safe extraction and release of the tiger back into the wild.

The Jharkhand Forest Department honored a local man, Purandar Mahto, and his daughter, Sonika Kumari, for their quick-thinking actions during a tiger encounter at their home.
On June 25, a male tiger entered their residence in Mardu village, prompting the two to devise a plan. The family ensured their safety by escaping and locking the tiger inside, after which they alerted the authorities.
A swift response from the Palamau Tiger Reserve lead to the safe capture and subsequent release of the animal. Mahto and his daughter were awarded financial recognition for their bravery and contributions to conservation during Van Mahotsav in Ranchi.
