In the wake of relentless rains and floods, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in northwest Pakistan has been severely impacted, with infrastructure costs soaring to Rs 20 billion, according to an official report released Thursday.
The region has faced the highest level of devastation in the country, with a death toll reaching 380 since August 15, and significant loss to property. Among the casualties, infrastructure took the hardest hit with extensive damage to government buildings and essential facilities.
An initial assessment by the Communication and Works Department highlighted the destruction of 603 government properties, including schools, roads, and irrigation channels. Recovery operations are ongoing, as authorities work to mitigate further damage and assist affected communities.
