Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has called on Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to rethink current building height restrictions around Bengaluru's defence airports. The two met in New Delhi for a comprehensive discussion.
In the meeting, Shivakumar emphasized the hindrance these constraints pose to the city's development. He urged the Defence Ministry to find a balance that bolsters Bengaluru's growth without compromising aviation safety.
Highlighting the excessive restrictions applied within a 20-km radius of defence airports, particularly the centrally-located HAL airport, Shivakumar pressed for a reevaluation that considers the city's rapid expansion and demand for development.
