Tamil Nadu is bracing for a heatwave as several districts have already exceeded the 100-degree Fahrenheit mark, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC). The agency predicts that temperatures will increase by more than two degrees Celsius starting Monday, with Vellore recording highs of up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
While dry weather continues to persist over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, isolated areas in the coastal districts, Cauvery delta, Western Ghats, southern coastal Tamil Nadu, and Karaikal are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall from April 27 to April 29.
However, from April 30 to May 2, the RMC forecasts moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in districts such as Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, and Krishnagiri. In the interim, hot weather conditions are set to continue in coastal zones due to elevated humidity and temperatures.
