Punjab and Haryana are currently experiencing a severe heatwave, with maximum temperatures soaring further on Monday. Bathinda recorded a scorching 47 degrees Celsius, closely followed by Sirsa at 46.2 degrees Celsius.

As blistering heat swept across the two states, their shared capital, Chandigarh, also endured the season's hottest day so far, hitting a high of 42 degrees Celsius.

Numerous other locations registered extreme temperatures, including Faridkot at 46.4 degrees Celsius, Amritsar at 42 degrees, and Ludhiana at 42.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Haryana's Rohtak, Narnaul, and Hisar experienced highs of 45.2, 44.3, and 44.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
