In an enthralling Test match, Sean Williams celebrated a career milestone by scoring his sixth century, equaling Zimbabwe's record for the second-highest Test tons, shared with Brendon Taylor and Grant Flower. His valiant effort against South Africa's first innings lead of 418/9 was the highlight of Zimbabwe's batting lineup.

Partnering with skipper Craig Ervine, Williams contributed significantly to a 96-run stand, trying to steady Zimbabwe's response. Yet, Keshav Maharaj shifted the momentum back in South Africa's favor by dismissing Williams for 137 and completing a landmark achievement of 200 Test wickets, becoming the first South African spinner to do so.

Despite a promising start with Tony de Zorzi and Wiaan Mulder maintaining South Africa's aggressive approach, Zimbabwe collapsed to 251 after Ervine's wicket. Besides Maharaj, Codi Yusuf and Mulder showcased exceptional bowling skills, restricting the Zimbabwe innings effectively.
