India's campaign at the Swimming World Championships concluded on a disappointing note as Shoan Ganguly finished 28th in the men's 400m individual medley on Sunday.
Gangly, who had entered the event following a record-breaking performance at the nationals, recorded a time of 4:30.40s, failing to secure a spot in the crucial eight-man final.
Meanwhile, Olympic champion Leon Marchand successfully advanced to the final, setting a new world record in the 200 individual medley earlier in the week.
The Indian swimming contingent struggled throughout the championships without advancing past their heats or achieving personal bests.
