India Assembles Record Shooting Contingent for Asian Championships
India gears up for the 16th Asian Shooting Championships, with a record contingent of 182 shooters. The event will take place in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, from August 16-30, with fierce competition expected from China and South Korea. Previous championships saw India securing third position with 19 medals.

India's top shooters have gathered at Dr. Karni Singh Range as they begin preparations for the 16th Asian Shooting Championships. The prestigious event, held from August 16 to 30 in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, will feature the largest-ever Indian contingent of 182 shooters.
The championship promises intense competition among continental powers, including China and South Korea. A total of 734 shooters from 28 countries are set to compete, with host Kazakhstan fielding the second-largest squad. India's contingent includes 35 senior and 36 junior shooters funded by the government.
After finishing third in the previous championships with 19 medals, India aims to improve its standing. Pistol and skeet shooters will depart on August 14, followed by rifle shooters on August 17, with others leaving by August 24 for non-Olympic events.
