In the wake of a handshake controversy and a dispute involving match referee Andy Pycroft, Pakistan's captain Salman Ali Agha has asserted the team's readiness to face arch-rival India in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup, set to take place on Sunday.
The group's first encounter saw India decisively outplay Pakistan with a seven-wicket victory in Dubai. The customary post-match handshake was notably absent, sparking criticism from former Pakistani cricketers who chastised India's conduct. Subsequently, disagreements intensified as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) demanded Pycroft's removal. Despite the off-field tensions, Pakistan's performance in the upcoming fixture remains unfazed.
After a delayed start caused by management disputes, Pakistan managed to secure a spot in the Super Four with a 41-run victory over UAE, guided by key performances from Shaheen Afridi and the spin attack. While Salman expressed the need for improvement in their batting, he remained optimistic about overcoming future challenges, applauding Afridi's progress in batting.
