KL Rahul's unbeaten century, aided by a solid 98-run partnership with Shubman Gill, put India in a commanding position against West Indies in the first Test. By the end of the first session on day two, India led by 56 runs, having reached 218/3, thanks to Rahul's brilliant innings.

KL Rahul's brilliant century and his crucial 98-run partnership with Shubman Gill gave India a significant 56-run lead over West Indies by the end of the first session on day two of the opening Test at Ahmedabad. India was poised at 218/3 with Rahul unbeaten on 100* and new partner Dhruv Jurel at the crease.
India commenced the day at 121/2, with captain Shubman Gill on 18* and Rahul on 53*. West Indies' Jayden Seales opened the bowling, conceding two boundaries to KL Rahul in the first over. The runs flowed slowly as West Indies tightened their grip for the next six overs. However, India relieved some of the pressure with boundaries in Justin Greaves' over, crossing the 150-mark soon after.
The innings saw a mix of patient and flashy strokes, with Rahul and Gill surpassing West Indies' first innings total of 162 before the drinks break. Unfortunately, Gill fell to a reverse sweep, scoring 50 in 100 balls, under Roston Chase's bowling. KL Rahul finally hit his 11th Test century with an elegant single against Chase, marking his first home soil century since 2016. Brief Scores: India 218/3 (Rahul 100*, Gill 50, Chase 2/37) vs WI 162 (Greaves 32, Siraj 4/40).
