Aadhaar Reinvented: Empowering Seamless Offline Verification

In a significant development, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has successfully onboarded nearly 100 entities as Offline Verification Seeking Entities (OVSEs) within only three months of rollout. This enables enhanced privacy-first, consent-based verification through Aadhaar's offline mechanism, cutting down on the need for physical documentation.

These OVSEs span various sectors, from government departments, fintech, education, and hospitality, to identity verification and workforce validation companies. Their integration is expected to shorten service delivery times, reduce operational friction, and lower costs associated with traditional verification procedures.

By embracing Aadhaar Offline Verification methods like QR code-based and digitally signed documents, these entities will now perform identity checks without real-time UIDAI database connectivity. This approach centralizes user privacy and data control, advancing India's Digital Public Infrastructure vision.
