Srinagar-Jammu Highway Reopens for Fruit Trucks
The crucial Srinagar-Jammu national highway reopened for heavy vehicles after three weeks, allowing fruit-laden trucks from Kashmir to continue their journey. Previously closed due to rains and floods, this reopening alleviates fears among fruit growers about market access. Traffic officials urge adherence to road rules to prevent blockages.

The Srinagar-Jammu national highway is now accessible to heavy vehicles, reopening after a three-week shutdown triggered by severe weather conditions. This development has enabled numerous fruit-laden trucks stranded in Kashmir to resume their journey.
The highway, a vital 270 km-long route, was previously opened only to light vehicles. Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic-rural) Ravindra Singh stated prioritizing the clearance of vehicles carrying food products. Drivers are reminded to adhere strictly to traffic guidelines to prevent road congestion and potential accidents.
Reopening this major transportation route is a relief for fruit growers concerned about their produce reaching market destinations. Meanwhile, Mughal Road served as a temporary alternative but couldn't support heavy vehicles due to its challenging terrain.
