IAF Fighter Jets Command the Skies over Purvanchal Expressway

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has initiated a two-day exercise along the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, showcasing its fighter jets' capabilities. The airstrip at Arval-Kiri Karwat serves as the venue for the training, where aircraft are executing 'touch-and-go' maneuvers, underscoring the strategic use of expressways as emergency runways.

Enhanced security measures have been put in place to manage the inflow of spectators while a temporary air traffic control system is effectively coordinating aircraft movements. Local officials have urged residents to remain cautious and avoid spreading or believing in unfounded rumors, ensuring the smooth progression of the exercise.

In tandem with the high-flying event, the area is experiencing redirected traffic as a 12-km segment of the expressway is temporarily closed until May 1. The airstrip has been a focal point for similar exercises in the past, including performances by the Sukhoi and Mirage aircraft. This exercise serves as a critical preparedness measure for the IAF.
