Uttar Pradesh's ministers and senior officials took a stand for eco-friendly commutes on Thursday, exemplified by cycling, walking, and using public transport to reach their offices. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for conserving petroleum products and curbing pollution.
Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna and State Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh exemplified this by embracing cycling and public transport, respectively. At the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Director Radha Krishan Dhiman also cycled from his residence while encouraging employees and students to minimize vehicle use.
Further, leaders like District Magistrate Ishan Pratap Singh and Varanasi Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari joined the initiative by choosing to walk to their offices. The Municipal Corporation, inspired by Modi's call, declared every Saturday a 'No Fuel Day'. Yogi Adityanath also directed a 50% reduction in official convoys state-wide, boosting this eco-friendly drive.
