In an effort to promote transparency and balance in school staffing, the government of Arunachal Pradesh has unveiled a new, digitised system for managing teacher transfers and postings. The initiative seeks to enhance accountability and streamline processes through improved monitoring of attendance and overall deployment.

Education Commissioner Amjad Tak announced that the reform, implemented under the 'Reach to Teach' initiative, includes a key feature called the Teacher Registry Portal. This online database efficiently manages transfer applications, service records, and posting histories for the majority of teaching personnel in the state.

With 16,068 teachers and 107 ministerial staffers already registered, the portal aims to maintain comprehensive records, not only of transfer histories but also of classroom performance, student outcomes, and other vital details. While nearly all intra-district transfer orders are in place, the new system further allows teachers to apply for self-transfer digitally, thus minimizing the challenges posed by the state's tough terrain.

The commissioner emphasized that the technology-driven approach aims to ease the posting process for teachers, particularly in underserved regions, while discouraging non-compliance with transfer orders through potential disciplinary measures. The phased implementation aims for full operational status by next May, targeting enhanced staffing ratios to support educational needs in secluded areas.
