The race for the president's post in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) is heating up as six actors have filed nominations. The election is scheduled for August 16, following the resignation of the previous committee led by Mohanlal amid allegations of sexual harassment.
Actor-director Joy Mathew's candidature was rejected due to a technical error, though he continues to be in the running for the executive committee. A total of 93 nominations have been submitted for various key positions within AMMA, including president, vice president, and general secretary.
The contest for the top position features notable actors such as Jagadeesh, Shweta Menon, Devan, Raveendran, Anoop Chandran, and Jayan Cherthala. With the withdrawal deadline set for July 30, the final list of candidates will soon become clear.
