Udaipur Files Cleared for Release: A Nation's Story Unveiled

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has greenlit the film 'Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder'. Kanhaiya Lal's son, Yash Sahu, expressed relief over the decision, emphasizing that the film will shed light on his father's murder and their family's enduring fight for justice.

This clearance follows the dismissal of revision petitions disputing the film's certification, amid allegations of communal bias and ongoing legal reviews. MIB concluded that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) adhered to procedures, mandating 55 edits that the filmmakers implemented, thereby satisfying legal requirements.

Despite ongoing controversies, the ministry, invoking Section 6(2) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, found no grounds to revoke the film's classification. The Delhi High Court, informed by the Additional Solicitor General, acknowledged the government's withdrawal of recommended film edits, allowing its release post numerous legal confrontations.
