Tragedy Strikes: Devotees Perish in Festive Immersion Mishap
At least nine devotees died when a tractor-trolley carrying idols of Goddess Durga for immersion plunged into a lake in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district. An unfortunate incident left at least nine devotees dead after a tractor-trolley they were traveling in fell into a lake in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district, according to police reports.
The mishap occurred in the Pandhana area and involved a vehicle transporting Goddess Durga idols for immersion during Vijayadashmi festivities, confirmed Inspector General of Police, Anurag.
Rescue operations led by the State Disaster Response Force successfully retrieved nine bodies, with additional teams dispatched to continue search efforts. Authorities have initiated an investigation as survivors accounted that five to six people survived the accident.
