Two tourists, Vedant from Bijnor and Shail from Delhi, were injured by a lightning strike at Chandrashila peak, located near the Tungnath temple, on Friday afternoon. Officials reported that the Rudraprayag District Emergency Operation Centre was notified of the incident at 2:30 PM.
The rescue operation involved the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), District Disaster Response Force (DDRF), and medical teams. The teams faced challenging conditions, with weather changing from clear skies to heavy rain by the time of the incident. They undertook a demanding four-kilometre trek from Chopta to reach the site.
