Five young girls, aged between 15 and 17, who fled from Bhilai in Chhattisgarh to Nagpur fearing parental reprimand for reaching home late, were rescued by the Railway Protection Force. The incident occurred on Thursday, drawing attention to issues of child safety and communication.
The minors were discovered by RPF personnel at platform number 8 at Nagpur railway station on July 22. The Central Railway release noted that a woman head constable, Manju Sharma, interacted with the girls to understand their situation.
Following standard procedure, the girls underwent a medical check-up and accompanying documentation. They are currently placed in a government girls' shelter and will soon be reunited with their parents post counseling. Authorities emphasize the need for healthy parental communication to prevent such incidents.
