In the wake of continuous torrential rains hitting the city, a monorail train near the Mysore Colony station in Mumbai encountered a breakdown due to a power outage on Tuesday evening. The incident triggered an immediate rescue operation executed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), along with fire department and police personnel. BMC Additional Municipal Commissioner Amit Saini confirmed, 'Rescue teams from the fire department and police are diligently engaged in evacuating the affected passengers.'

Trapped passengers promptly reached out to the BMC helpline seeking aid. Responding swiftly, the Mumbai Fire Brigade dispatched personnel to the scene, who initiated the evacuation process utilizing three snorkel vehicles.

The monorail experienced this technical glitch around 6:15 pm, as reported by officials, situated between Chembur and Bhakti Park stations. The rescue operation is ongoing with dedicated efforts to ensure the safe evacuation of all passengers.

Meanwhile, in a communication via the social media platform X, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) revealed that despite the incident, services between Wadala and Chembur are maintained on a single line. The statement read, 'A monorail near Mysore Colony station encountered a minor power supply hiccup. Our operations and maintenance crews are on-site, working expeditiously to resolve the issue. Services between Wadala and Chembur are proceeding seamlessly on one line. We appreciate your patience and assure you that safety is our utmost concern. Normal service will resume promptly.'
