In a heartfelt celebration, Puducherry's Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 156th birth anniversary, with ceremonies held at the iconic Gandhi Square on Beach Road. The event included interfaith prayers and traditional Gandhian kirtans.

Later, Lt Governor Kailashnathan honored Perunthalaivar Kamaraj by garlanding his statue at Kamaraj Square. The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Speaker R. Selvam and Public Works Minister K. Lakshmi Narayanan. Together, they celebrated the integral contributions of Gandhi and Kamaraj.

Across India, Gandhi Jayanti was marked with reverence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered a floral tribute at Raj Ghat, emphasizing Gandhi's enduring influence on India's journey towards a 'Viksit Bharat.' Globally, the day is recognized as the International Day of Non-Violence, celebrated with messages from the United Nations highlighting Gandhi's teachings.
