The Department of Food and Public Distribution, together with its subordinate offices and public sector undertakings (PSUs), has embarked on an ambitious journey under Special Campaign 5.0. The campaign seeks to institutionalize cleanliness and reduce administrative backlog, aligning with the theme "Institutionalising Swachhata and Reducing Pendency." Key objectives include efficiency enhancement, streamlined processes, and bolstered citizen-centric governance.

Efforts involve sweeping initiatives across cleanliness, file management, grievance redressal, and e-waste disposal within all offices, as stated by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. Notably, 933 sites across department offices have been earmarked for cleaning to foster cleaner, more organized work environments. Additionally, the focus also lies on identifying and disposing of unserviceable items, a strategy that is expected to generate revenue and optimize office space utilization.

The campaign is addressing numerous pending matters, outlining the resolution of 11 references from Members of Parliament, 937 public grievances, and multiple state government references and appeals. A comprehensive record management drive is underway, reviewing 76,707 physical and 5,660 electronic files to weed out 71,055 obsolete documents. Although no pending PMO, easing of rules/processes, or inter-ministerial references exist currently, these areas remain under scrutiny to ensure timely intervention. The department remains confident in meeting all targets set by Special Campaign 5.0 within the planned timelines. (ANI)
