Srinagar city in Jammu and Kashmir is experiencing severe weather disruptions as heavy rainfall causes temperatures to plummet. The India Meteorological Department anticipates more rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds of up to 40 km/h, affecting the area.
Responding to predictions of heavy rainfall, the Jammu and Kashmir government shuttered schools in the Jammu division for two days. The order applies to both government and private institutions, prioritizing student safety amid the weather warnings.
Earlier, the Rajouri region suffered heavy rainfall, leading to damaged homes and infrastructure. Landslides have exacerbated transportation issues by blocking routes. Meanwhile, North Bengal is grappling with landslides and waterlogging, resulting in extensive damages and a death toll of at least 18, mainly in Darjeeling.
