A high-intensity mock drill simulating the handling of 40 bomb blast victims was conducted at RML Hospital on Wednesday. This exercise aimed to evaluate the hospital's preparedness and response coordination in the event of a mass casualty incident.
According to RML Hospital medical superintendent Dr Ajay Shukla, the simulation involved detailed clinical scenarios, including traumatic amputations and severe burns, ensuring a comprehensive examination of the hospital's critical care capabilities. Each fictional victim needed multidisciplinary intervention from various departments such as emergency medicine and neurosurgery.
Following the drill, a debriefing session was held with faculty and emergency response stakeholders to review management protocols. A report highlighting system improvements is being prepared, reflecting RML Hospital's commitment to disaster preparedness and trauma care enhancement.
