Ceasefire Breaches as Russian-Ukrainian Tensions Escalate
Ukrainian forces attempted breaches at the Russian border in the Kursk and Belgorod regions during a unilateral Russian ceasefire. Kyiv dismissed the ceasefire as a 'farce' and suggested a longer truce. Intense fighting reportedly continues despite Russia's declared victory in Kursk, with accusations of ceasefire violations on both sides.

The Russian Defence Ministry reported recent attempts by Ukrainian forces to breach the border in the Kursk and Belgorod regions amid a three-day unilateral ceasefire observed by Russia in honor of World War Two's 80th anniversary.
Kyiv labeled the ceasefire as insincere, refusing to agree and instead proposed a longer truce. Russian defence sources claimed that Ukrainian forces launched multiple cross-border attacks, with allegations of ceasefire violations from both countries.
Local governors reported significant attacks and harassment from Ukrainian forces, as high-intensity skirmishes continue in strategic areas despite President Putin's declaration of victory in the Kursk region. Independent verification of battlefield claims remains elusive.
