AIIMS Bhubaneswar Nursing Officer Arrest Sparks Outcry

A nursing officer at AIIMS Bhubaneswar has been apprehended for allegedly harassing a woman attendant, police reported on Tuesday. Nanu Ram Choudhury was charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a complaint lodged at Khandagiri Police Station.
After the FIR was registered, employees from various outsourcing agencies engaged with AIIMS Bhubaneswar gathered for a protest outside the hospital's main entrance, demanding justice and prompt action against the accused. The protest subsided once the officer was arrested.
The complaint states that the officer called the woman to a doctor's chamber early Sunday morning and abused her. She managed to escape and reported the incident to the hospital control room. Meanwhile, AIIMS-Bhubaneswar has forwarded the case to its Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) for further investigation.
