Bihar's New Teacher Recruitment Policy Boosts Local Opportunities

The Bihar government has taken a significant step towards empowering local residents, with the cabinet approving a new domicile policy in the recruitment of teachers. This policy aims to reserve approximately 85% of teaching positions for 'native residents' of the state.

Announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, this initiative is designed to maximize career opportunities for locals, who will have precedence in teaching recruitment exams. According to Additional Chief Secretary S Siddharth, existing quotas already account for over 50% of reserved seats for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and Extremely Backward Classes.

The remaining 40% of seats are now earmarked for Bihar natives who completed their Class 10 and 12 education locally, bringing the total reservation for native residents above 85%. Siddharth emphasized that women also occupy a substantial 35% reservation within these allocations.
