The body of Teseng M Sangma, a district agriculture officer, was discovered near Pelga Falls on Wednesday, after he went missing on Sunday evening. Sangma was swept away by strong currents while attempting to cross the Ganol River during a picnic.
The river, agitated by heavy rainfall, posed significant challenges, prompting a massive search led by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Special Response Team (SRT), and local volunteers. The search efforts extended for three days before concluding with the recovery of Sangma's body downstream.
Family members of the deceased officer have requested the public to respect their privacy by refraining from sharing images of Sangma on social media platforms.
