Karnataka High Court Orders Recount in Malur Constituency Election

The Karnataka High Court has invalidated the election of Congress MLA K Y Nanjegowda from the Malur constituency, mandating a recount of votes. The decision stems from a petition filed by BJP's KS Manjunath Gowda, who cited irregularities during the vote count.

The case, adjudicated by Justice R Devadas's bench, concluded with the annulment of Nanjegowda's election almost two years after proceedings began. However, the High Court has temporarily stayed its verdict for 30 days to permit Nanjegowda to approach the Supreme Court.

Should the Supreme Court choose not to intervene within this period, Nanjegowda's seat will be declared vacant, potentially altering the political landscape in Kolar district's Malur constituency.
