In a significant development, the Border Security Force (BSF) has launched an inquiry following allegations of misconduct involving the punishment of a jawan by a commanding officer at a West Bengal camp. The jawan reportedly faced physical punishment for purported disciplinary breaches observed by the Commandant of the 162nd battalion.
Officials from the BSF's sector headquarters in Cooch Behar reported that a staff court of inquiry has been established to scrutinize the incident. This action comes after the commanding officer allegedly ordered the jawan to perform a front roll while holding a swagger stick.
The inquiry panel, consisting of a single officer, has been tasked with reconstructing the sequence of events and recommending measures to prevent similar incidents. The BSF, a key player in securing India's borders with Bangladesh and Pakistan, is committed to investigating and resolving the matter comprehensively.
