Chhagan Bhujbal's Benami Case Revived: Court Orders Restoration

A special court in Mumbai has ordered the restoration of a high-profile benami property case from 2021, involving Maharashtra minister Chhagan Bhujbal. The proceedings were initially quashed by the Bombay High Court, but only on technical grounds rather than the case's merits.

The Income Tax Department had originally initiated the case against Bhujbal and his family members, attributing ownership of several benami properties to them. The properties in question include Armstrong Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, Parvesh Constructions Pvt Ltd, and Devisha Constructions Pvt Ltd, as well as properties located in Mumbai and Girna Sugar Mills in Nashik.

Despite the High Court's initial dismissal of the case, the Supreme Court allowed a review petition, prompting the special MP/MLA court to restore proceedings. The next hearing is scheduled for October 6, where the case will be revisited, now reinstated to its original stage.
