The Central Bureau of Investigation has launched a new probe against an Airports Authority of India senior manager, this time for allegedly siphoning off Rs 18.12 crore during his tenure at Jaipur airport. This adds to an already significant case of embezzlement totaling more than Rs 250 crore.
Rahul Vijay, a senior manager in finance and accounts with AAI, was apprehended last month following allegations of misappropriating over Rs 232 crore by transferring public sector funds into his personal account while posted in Dehradun.
The fresh complaint, filed by a manager from Jaipur airport, claims Vijay, suspended from his duties, misdirected funds into his accounts, exploiting his control over the AAI's bank systems. His role as an authorized signatory allowed this embezzlement by altering beneficiary details just before payments were issued.
