Ladakh Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta reviewed the security situation in the Union Territory as schools in violence-hit Leh reopened after a nine-day closure, officials reported.

Although assembly bans and mobile internet service suspensions remain, most restrictions have been gradually lifted, indicating improved conditions, officials confirmed.

The Lt Governor chaired a high-level security review in Leh, assessing the prevailing law and order following his return from a religious event in Jammu. The curfew, imposed on September 24 due to violence that left four dead, has been relaxed incrementally. Meanwhile, mobile internet services are still suspended across Ladakh. Officials revealed that of over 50 detainees, 26 have been granted bail. The Kargil Bar Association's lawyers are abstaining from judicial duties in solidarity until October 6. Schools reopened after a closure since September 24.
