Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directives, a large-scale training program for crime scene experts is underway at the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS) in Lucknow. The initiative aims to modernize policing and make it more result-oriented.
According to a government statement, the program plans to train 500 experts across five phases. So far, 300 specialists have completed training, and the remaining will do so soon. These trained officers will return to their districts to train fellow police personnel, effectively establishing a statewide forensic policing network.
The training, supervised by senior officers, covers areas like crime scene management, cyber forensics, and digital evidence preservation. It aims to improve the efficiency of the police force by equipping officers with both traditional and modern investigative techniques. Dr. GK Goswami, the institute's founding director, confirmed the training of three batches, with two more to follow.
