Bageerath, the son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, was taken into custody by police for interrogation in connection with a POCSO case, according to officials. His transfer from Cherlapally Central Prison occurred after a local court sanctioned police custody starting May 27 for two days.
The case originated on May 8 following a complaint by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, accusing Bageerath of being in an inappropriate relationship and assault. Despite his arrest on May 16, Bageerath countered with allegations that the girl and her family coerced him into marriage, demanding money. An FIR was lodged based on his account as well.
