Telangana has reached out to Maharashtra to discuss adjustments to the height of a proposed barrage on the Godavari River. This is part of efforts to ensure sufficient water supply for irrigation and drinking in several Telangana districts while maintaining minimal submergence impact in Maharashtra.
Originally set at 148 meters, Telangana proposes increasing the Full Reservoir Level. Despite an earlier agreement between both states, the current height is deemed insufficient by Telangana's experts. Discussions will aim to recalibrate the height to better align with Telangana's water needs without significantly impacting Maharashtra, facilitating water flow through gravity.
