Netanyahu Adviser Faces Charges Over Security Leak

Israel's attorney general has announced plans to prosecute Jonatan Urich, a top advisor to Benjamin Netanyahu, for leaking classified information to a German tabloid, allegedly intending to damage national security. This comes as another scandal affecting Netanyahu, who is already under trial for corruption and facing coalition issues.

The charges against Urich will include disseminating a classified document in 2024 to benefit Netanyahu by shifting blame for unsuccessful negotiations with Hamas during the Gaza conflict. The indictment will also address Urich's possession of confidential data and evidence destruction. Urich and his legal team have contested these charges, labeling them as disconnected from the truth.

Netanyahu's office remained silent on the indictment, while Urich's sarcastic social media response highlighted his discontent. Separately, both Urich and Eli Feldstein, another former Netanyahu aide, were previously implicated in a foreign funding scandal involving Qatar. These legal challenges fuel ongoing criticism of Netanyahu's inner circle and claims of judicial bias.
